For most people, the real estate they own is one of their most valuable assets. A mistake in this area can be devastating.
Timoney Knox has real estate attorneys experienced in buying and selling property; in mortgaging and borrowing against real estate; in interpreting and applying the wide variety of local land use and zoning laws; and in representing the needs and concerns of individuals as well as homeowners’ associations, condominiums, and planned communities.
We can help you with tax assessment appeals, mortgage foreclosures, and sheriff’s sales.
We know our way around leases, contracts, and agreements of sale from our extensive experience working with buyers and sellers, landlords and tenants, banks and borrowers, and real estate agents. We always strive to get an agreement all parties can live with and that appropriately addresses our clients’ concerns. And if a problem emerges after such an agreement is executed, we help our clients to work it out.
Whatever the legal issue, Timoney Knox’s real estate team can help you through the process.
“Thank you for taking such good care of me. Everything is perfect now.”

Land Use & Zoning
In Pennsylvania, local governments are in charge of land use and zoning decisions. Each municipality has its own zoning, subdivision, and land development regulations, and if you are a property owner who wants to improve, build upon, develop, or subdivide your land, your project must meet those code requirements, or you will need to get relief from the local zoning hearing board in the form of variances, conditional use approvals, or special exceptions.
Buying & Selling Real Estate
The real estate market is tricky these days, but if you need to buy or sell a property we can help. We work with real estate agents all the time and we are familiar with the contracts they use. You need to understand these documents too before you sign them. You need to understand your mortgage or financing contingency, the home inspection clauses, and what constitutes a “good and marketable title.” We can help you with all of this.
