Timoney Knox’s Scott H. Wolpert, Esquire and Christine M. O’Brien, Esquire co-presented “Compliance with Section 504 in Public Schools,” for two of its public school district clients. In both seminars, they presented an overview of important aspects of Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, including Section 504 eligibility, evaluation, placement, 504 plans, compliance, and procedural safeguards. The seminars covered important school district obligations and responsibilities, important case law, and how the ADA Amendments Act affects Section 504.

Scott and Christine also recently co-presented “2014 School Law Workshop,” a training for one of its private school clients on avoidance of liability by discussing important school law cases and issues affecting private school administrators and teachers. The workshop covered many topics, including communications with parents and students, documentation, social media, mandatory child abuse reporting requirements, and investigating and responding to “bullying” allegations.
