Kevin Birkhead Named Managing Partner

(July 1, 2025) In its 104 years of service to the greater Philadelphia community, Fort Washington-based law firm, Timoney Knox, LLP, has prided itself on the tenure and dedication of its talented attorneys and on providing exceptional service to clients.

Scott H. Wolpert, Esquire has served as the firm’s Managing Partner since 2018, and after seven outstanding years, Wolpert is stepping down from that role effective July 1, 2025.  Wolpert wishes to devote more time to his Students’ Rights and Education practice and dedicate all of his attention to advocating for students and their families. Wolpert skillfully steered the firm through the uncertainty of the COVID-19 pandemic and under his leadership, the firm expanded to include offices in Wayne, Bryn Mawr, and Washington, D.C.

Over the past 38 years, the firm has only had three Managing Partners: Michael O’Hara Peale, Jr. who dedicated 47 years to Timoney Knox and served as Managing Partner from 1987 through 2007, George Riter who served between 2007 and 2018, and Scott Wolpert who served between 2018 and 2025.

The tradition continues with Kevin D. Birkhead, Esquire, as he assumes the role of Managing Partner effective July 1, 2025. Birkhead joined Timoney Knox in 2013, and through his hard work and commitment to his clients, built a successful practice in Trusts and Estates and Business Law. Birkhead’s accomplishments and business acumen secured his position as Partner by 2019, and his aptitude for leadership has elevated him to the seat of Managing Partner. Eric B. Smith and Thomas A. Boulden will serve with Birkhead on the firm’s Executive Committee. Wolpert commented: “It has been a privilege to lead our firm and the outstanding attorneys and staff of Timoney Knox.  I am excited to see the firm continue to grow and flourish under Kevin’s leadership.”

Birkhead received his B.S. in Business Administration from Saint Joseph’s University, his Juris Doctor from Rutgers University School of Law-Camden, magna cum laude, and an LL.M. in Taxation from the Temple University School of Law, with distinction.  For more than 17 years, he has been honored to serve individuals and families in the areas of wills, trusts and estates, as well as tax and business law.

Birkhead was an Examiner for the Pennsylvania Board of Law Examiners from 2017 through 2022. He is an active member of the Montgomery Bar Association, acting as Chair of the Business, Banking and Corporate Counsel Committee from 2019 to 2022, and has served as a coach and board member for several local youth sports organizations.

Timoney Knox, LLP, has been an anchor in Montgomery County and the surrounding areas since its founding in 1921, when attorney Thomas A. Foulke founded the firm from an office on Butler Pike in Ambler. Since then, the firm has evolved to employ a comprehensive staff of talented attorneys, paralegals and legal support staff who are available to help the people of the community in a diverse range of legal practice areas.
