A deep-rooted interest and familiarity with first-party property insurance remains the crux of our practice.  Our team has helped shape the nation’s law and the industry’s dealings with issues including the depreciation of labor, overhead & profit, assignment of benefits, concurrent causation, insurable interests, pandemic/COVID-19, and insurance fraud.  Our lawyers know property coverage.

The Timoney Knox Insurance Industry Group has a unique understanding of the legal and practical challenges facing carriers, as several of our lawyers held senior level positions in Claims and In-House Legal operations.  In addition to rendering coverage advice, we are providing counsel and assistance to our clients on regulatory and business practice issues across the country, including coordination of responses to data calls, regulatory inquiries and challenges to claim denials raised through state departments of insurance. From a role as national counsel, membership on a carrier Task Force, to individual claims and litigation assignments, our lawyers are on the daily cutting-edge of developments in the property insurance arena in relation to the pandemic.  We monitor legislative and case law developments, while providing advice and counsel as to claims handling. Litigation, always a last resort, is also an important feature of our practice, including the use and marshalling of experts, consistency in multiple jurisdictions and the protection of our clients’ business practices and assets.
