Christine M. O'Brien joined Timoney Knox as an associate in May 2011. She focuses her practice on business law, civil litigation and special education law.
Prior to joining the firm, Christine worked as an associate at a general litigation firm in Southampton, Pennsylvania, and as an associate at a family law firm in York, Pennsylvania. She previously served on the Board of Directors for the York Hospital Auxiliary.
Ms. O'Brien has handled a variety of representative cases, a sample of which include:
- Member of personal injury litigation team in practice areas such as medical malpractice, automobile accidents and premises liability.
- Defended individual homeowners in mortgage foreclosure actions, resulting in the avoidance of foreclosures and the successful negotiations and modifications of new mortgage terms.
- Defended sellers of former residence in a dispute with buyers regarding alleged misrepresentations made by sellers in the sale of their home.
- Represented individual homeowners' interests before township zoning hearing board in a request for a variance of local ordinance.
- Have represented landlords in dispute with individual tenants over terms and performance of obligations in residential lease.
- Represented homeowners in their tax assessment appeals before the County Tax Assessment Board, resulting in lower assessments and property tax liability.
- Provided representation to general contractors in suing customers for nonpayment of bills and in post-judgment collection efforts.
- Currently assisting in the representation of numerous school districts and charter schools in matters related to special education, including the settlement of disputes and preparation for due process hearings and federal and state litigation.
Christine earned her law degree from Villanova University in 2008. While in law school, she was selected to write for the Villanova Environmental Law Journal and was a local board member of Phi Delta Phi, a national legal fraternity focused on ethics within the legal profession. She also volunteered her time, providing pro bono legal work through various programs offered through the law school.
Christine received her undergraduate degree in psychology from Emory University in 2005. While attending Emory, she was a captain of the nationally-ranked varsity softball team and competed twice in the NCAA College World Series. She was on the Dean's List and was selected by the faculty for academic recognition in the Psi Chi National Honor Society, the Mortar Board Senior National Honor Society and Who's Who Among Students in American Colleges and Universities.
Christine is admitted to practice in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and is a member of the Pennsylvania Bar Association and the Montgomery County Bar Association. She is a Bucks County native and currently resides in Feasterville, Pennsylvania.
